March on Atlanta  E-mail

Ulysses S. Grant will fight a total war in 1864. He will take on Robert E. Lee in Virginia while his most trusted general, William Tecumseh Sherman marches on Atlanta. Initially Sherman's goal is to keep the western confederate armies occupied so they cannot reinforce Lee. But, when Grant's campaign fails, and Lincoln's reelection is at stake, the whole war effort rests on Sherman's success in taking Atlanta. If Sherman fails, Lincoln will probably lose the election and the new president will sue for peace.
